An almost complete Banksy stencil for "Gangsta Rat" as exhibited at Glasgow GOMA Banksy "Cut & Run". Complete with take and black aerosol on both sides meaning that the artist has made also mirrored images.
From the coilection of Harvey Haddock. Accompanied by a signed letter from Hadock confirming his working relationship with Banksy. And a photo of Haddock holding the work.
A photo exists of Harvey Haddock as he is working on the exhibition “Crude Oils” that opened at 100 Westbourne Grove in London and was Banksy’s second major exhibition, after Turf War in 2003. It featured 20 versions of classical oil paintings, among them Van Gogh, Hopper, Warhol, Turner and Monet. Also present were 200 live rats and some interesting sculptures. See photos.
The connection between Banksy and Harvey Haddock can be found in Banksy literature and in the press.
"For Edward Hopper's bar scene, Nighthawks, Banksy has added an angry man dressed only in Union Jack shorts who has just broken the bar window with a plastic chair. The model for the man was Harvey Haddock, Banksy's "dogsbody" who will show visitors around personally."
Accompanied by a signed letter by Harvey:
My name is Harvey Haddock and I was both a good friend and colleague to Banksy between 2003-2007. In those years I worked with him on many projects both publicly and behind the scenes. As such he would often visit me in Brighton for a weekend, to work and socialize. On one of the occasions he left a bag of notebooks, sketch books and some stencils with me as he planned to return the following weekend…He never returned. It is as a result of this that I can wholeheartedly attest to the authenticity of this stencil as it was in my personal possession for many years.
Regards Harvey H.
